As the world watches the bushfires in Australia rage across the country, killing hundreds of animals in the process, some heroes are right there in the middle of the action, doing whatever they can do to save animal lives.
The Irwin family are just such heroes. They have explained how terrible the situation is in Australia in the video below:
The Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital is doing amazing work saving as many Koalas as possible despite them being physically 2,000 Kilometers away from the fire zone.
“We’re able to offer a safe haven for wildlife needing help,
Terri Irwin told Sunrise
Unfortunately, Koalas are the hardest-hit population with the fires.
Koala instinct is to go up, as safety is in the top of the tree,Eucalyptus trees have so much oil that they ignite and actually explode in a fire. That means being able to treat and help koalas is few and far between because they’re basically incinerated.
” Terri explained. “
Even worse, the Koalas that survive these can die from other ways such as starving to death, being hit by cars, or being attacked by other panicking animals.
Still, the work the Irwin family and their foundation are doing is nothing short of incredible.
The fires in Australia are so bad that they may have already wiped out some species from existence! The Koala species are in danger of becoming an endangered species quickly.
The fires in Australia have shocked the world, and many celebrities are donating to help Australia. But it will take much more to save wildlife in Australia than the generous donations of celebrities.
