I browsed the internet for inspiration and was able to collect great Halloween costume ideas for our pets and was inspired to think of some unique ones myself. Without any further ado, let us talk about thirty awesome Halloween costume ideas for your furry friend.
Costume No. one: Blossoms from Cartoon Network’s Powerpuff Girls
The Powerpuff Girls is Cartoon Network cartoon that first aired in 1998. If you are a millennial or if you had kids during that time, then you are probably familiar with the show.
Making a Blossom’s costume for your dog is very easy. All you need to do is use a red ribbon and make it a big bow.
To make the costume look more authentic, make an eye mask that is made of carton paper. Make sure that you make eye holes that are big enough for your dog to see through.
Pain the eye mask with black, pink, and white paint. Here is how they eye mask should turn out to be.
Costume No. 2: Velma Dinkley from Scooby-Doo
If you are a huge fan of Scooby-Doo, then you are in for a treat cause I have three different pet costume ideas that are Scooby-Doo related!
The first one is going to be a Velma Dinkley costume, one of the smartest people in this amazing mystery solvers gang.
All you need for this costume to get your dog a pair off black glasses that have a squared frame ( make sure that you remove the glasses and just use the frame) and a short, brown, bob wig.
Make sure that the fringe of the wig is short enough to prevent the hair from poking your dog’s eye. If you want to go the extra mile and the weather is a bit cold, then you can knit them an orange sweater crop top.
Costume No. 3: Scooby-Doo from Scooby-Doo
If we are going to make costumes from the Scooby-Doo franchise, then we must make a Scooby-Doo costume as well. Because this does not require you to dress your pet in something, it is great for both cats and dogs that are brown in color.
You will need a pet-friendly black paint to paint Scooby’s black dots on your pet’s body. We are not going to stop there, though. We are also going to make our pets a customized collar tag for them like Scooby’s
You can use cardboard and cut in the shape of a square. Next, paint the borders yellow, then paint the rest space in light blue. After you’re done and the paint dries, write your dog’s or your cat’s initials in the center with a sharpie and paint that yellow as well.
Costume No. 4: The Mystery Machine Van from Scooby-Doo
The last Scooby-Doo costume I am going to mention today is the Mystery Machine Van costume!
For this costume, you are going to need cardboard paper that is big enough for your dog body. You are going to draw the shape of the van twice and cut them out. Next you are going to paint it and draw on it similarly to the Original Mystery Machine Van.
Finally but not least, attach the cardboards to the sides of your dogs vest or crop top ( when they are not wearing it of course).
Costume No. 5: Bugs Bunny from Looney Toons
Bugs Bunny is another classic cartoon and anyone can recognize. Bug’s bunny is renowned for his long ears, so all you have to DIY for this costume is Bug’s Bunny’s ears.

Costume No. 6: A Graduating Pooch
This costume idea is adorable and it allows you to make it unique by writing something funny
You can write on the cap using fabric markers or by sticking the words.
Costume No. 7: Dressing them as Santa Clause
This is a costume that you can keep it simple by just getting your pooch Santa’s hat, or you can go all out and make them Santa’s outfit as well.
Just remember to not make them wear any pants so they can go
Costume No. 8: Using a stuffed animal toy
If you have old stuffed animals that are falling apart, you can use them for your dog’s DIY Halloween costume. You can either take a specific part of it all use it entirely. Here is an example of a dog wearing a Reindeer’s head.

This is going to take you a while to make, but it is going to look amazing on your pooch.

Another way to dress your dog as a reindeer is to you buy or DIY a reindeer’s antlers headwear.
Costume No. 11: Dressing them as an Angel
No, I am not talking about Angel from Buffy the Vampire Slayer or the Angel TV show, although it would be epic to see a dog who is dressed in a black leather coat. If you dress your dog as one of the characters who are in Joss Whedon’s Buffy universe, then please send me a picture of that!
I am just talking about regular angels who are not vampires with a soul, so all you need for that is halo headwear. You can also get a pair of small wings that you can attach to one of your dog’s vests or crop tops.

If you have seen The Corpse bride, you know that Scraps is Victor’s dog pet who is a resident of the Land of the Dead. If you have a black dog, this costume will be perfect cause all you need is a pet-friendly white paint to paint on the bones of your dog’s skeleton
Costume No. 14: Dressing them as Frankenweenie from Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie stop motion animation
If you have a white dog and you were upset that you can dress up a Tim Burton character, then rejoice again because this costume is perfect for white dogs.
Unlike the previous look, you are going to need pet-friendly paint that is black to draw Frankenweenie’s stitches on your dog.

Remember how the fox dressed up as little red riding hood’s grandma? Well, this is how you can dress your dog as the fox who is dressed up as little red riding hood’s grandma.

For a simpler costume idea for your beloved dog that is from Little red Riding Hood’s story, then dress them up as Little Red Riding Hood. All you need for that is red cape.
However, make sure that the cape is not too long so they don’t trip on it and get hurt.

You can stitch a mane using faux fur for your dog that can slide over their heads.

If your dog hair color is light brown or white, then you can use pet-friendly black paint to dress to make their tiger Halloween costume.
All you have to do is paint black stripes on their body and your dog is going to be ready for Halloween.
