It’s no wonder that Border Collies are amazingly intelligent dogs, but Patsy the Border Collie has shown that she truly is an incredible dog.
Patsy is a herding dog on an Australian farm, and she is one of the heroes in the fight against the fires that have already killed more than 480 million animals and killed more than 20 people.
The story goes as follows; early on the 31st of December, 2019, the fires in Corryong was nearing down the farm Patsy was in.
The picture below shows the fires as it was getting dangerously close to the farms.
It’s worth noting that these fires are the worst in recent history for Australia or the whole world, much worse than the fires in the Amazons. The fires in Australia are so bad, they might have already wiped out entire species!
As the fires got close to the farm, Patsy started rounding up the sheep immediately and brought them to the safest paddock on their farm.
She then found a safe spot for herself to hide in while her humans started fighting the fires with the fire tractors and a tank of water.
Thanks to Patsy’s quick actions, all of the sheep survived the fires along with both farmhouses, hay bales, and the shearing shed.
Cath, Patsy’s owner sister, told Metro that the situation in Corryong is like Armageddon.
Everyone is just trying to get water and feed to their animals, shoot the ones that can’t be saved, get temporary fences up to keep stock secure, and put out all the logs and stumps still burning. And there’s people who have nothing left but the clothes on their backs
It’s unbelievable and it’s only going to get worse. That’s why we put Patsy’s story out there. People need something positive
