A sweet Rescue German Shepherd is finally having the happy ending he deserves after finding a loving family.

The spirited German Shepherd-Border Collie mix was left with his distinct face and partial blindness after the pup was attacked after birth. The pup was adopted but then returned to the shelter, his owners back then claimed they couldn’t handle his ” hyper personality”.

The was attacked when he was just 13-years-old, the attack caused parts of his jaws to fuse together as he grew. It left one side of his face “Slanted” with partial blindness in one of his eyes.

He spent 5 months with the first adopters before he was returned to the shelter due to “hyper personality”.

Thankfully, a lovely couple, Amanda Richter and Brad Ames fell in love with the dog at first sight and rescued him from Old MacDonald Kennels in Alberta, Canada in September of last year.

While his first adopters found his personality difficult to handle, his new family find it the most attractive thing about the pup.

I looked at his photos every day and even cried a few times. We felt drawn to him for some reason. We met him, took him for a walk and hung out with him for a few hours and ended up bringing him home the same day because the rescue really felt we were a great fit.

He’s definitely hyper but he is so intelligent, His brain is perfectly fine and he learns tricks within 10 minutes usually which tells me he is a smart boy

“He just needed patience and someone to be consistent. He gets better every week.”

Richter and Adams have big plans for Brodie, as the pup is now named. They hope to train him as a therapy dog for people with special needs. The hope the dog will be able to raise awareness for other disabled dogs.

Unfortunately, Brodie still has some medical complications to face while growing up, but he is healthy and happy for now, and his family is ready to face any difficulties with the lovely pup.

“It’s actually funny because when we go to the dog park everyone notices how he is the happiest pup there and just wants to play and run,” she said. “Dogs are resilient and he has no idea he looks different so he enjoys his life just the same as any other pup.”
