Dogs are a life-long commitment. You need to be prepared financially, mentally, and emotionally before you get a dog.
A pit bull that was found abandoned on the side of the road recently was discovered to belong to Rakeem Nunez-Roches. The dog was found starving and exhausted on the side of the road, 36 hours after she was abandoned by her owner.
Several people tried to rescue the dog by coaxing her into their vehicles, but the dog refused to do so, probably thinking she should wait for his owner who will come back for her.
A volunteer with Cane Corso Rescue was eventually able to get the dog to the Hillsborough Country Animal Services. There, she was scanned for a chip and the staff there was shocked when they discovered the pup belonged to Nunez-Roches.
They, of course, contacted him, thinking the poor dog got lost and that he will be thrilled to have her.
They called, he said he would come to get get her, but he never did.
“I called on Tuesday and they said that he had responded back and that he would pick her up on Sunday, which I thought was odd because they played Detroit on Sunday and they had a 4:25 game, so how would he get back in time to pick her up at 7?
“Was football more important? I don’t know. Maybe it is, but he should’ve re-homed her.”
They later revealed that his wife gave up their dog because they were “expecting a child”.
The Buccaneers revealed in a statement:
We are aware of the issue regarding Rakeem Nunez-Roches and are in the process of gathering additional information. We will refrain from further comment until we have a better understanding of the situation.

Thankfully, the dog, later found out to be named Jitterbug, found her happy ending with a woman by the name of Andrea Johnson and her husband who adopted her.
We wish Jitterbug a life of happiness with her new family and hope that the player gets punished for what he’s done. The poor dog could’ve easily died on the side of the road.
