The vets were not sure if the dog can make it as the bullet directly hit his chest where it tore through his heart, left lung, diaphragm, liver, spleen, and stomach.
He lost a third of his blood and needed one surgery then another in order to repair his organs.
Thankfully, Billy is a tough dog with a fight in him, and his family and the good people on GoFundMe supported him every step of the way.
Billy still has a long road to recovery, but he is slowly getting better. He is still on antibiotics but he was able to go home where he is best-taken care of by his family.
Unfortunately, the police are still searching for the two armed men who shot the dog.
