The fires in Australia have been more than devastating for the country and its wildlife. Scientists are saying that these fires have already killed over half a BILLION animals.

But heroes always show up in dire situations, and there have been some truly amazing heroes in those tough times, and it seems like many of those heroes belong to Gen Z, such as those two teenagers driving around rescuing Koalas from the fires.

Another recent hero was discovered, as the image below shows a Baby Kangaroo that was badly burnt by the New South Wales fires. The baby kangaroo sought help from a teenager, and the teenager immediately showered the Kangaroo with water and love.

While this Kangaroo may have survived the fires, millions of others were not so lucky. In fact, some species populations were hit so hard by the fires that they are brought to the brink of extinction.

The hardest-hit species remain the Koalas till now, which are the least-equipped animals to escape the fires.

Humans are also suffering, at least 23 people have lost their lives to the fires. More than 1,500 homes have been burnt to the ground by the fires and hundreds of thousands of people have been evacuated across the continent.

The New South Wales Transport Minister, Andrew Constance, told the ABC what he thinks of the fires:

I’ve got to be honest with you, this isn’t a bushfire, it’s an atomic bomb. It’s indescribable the hell it’s caused and the devastation it’s caused”
