A recent vicious attack on a 71-year-old woman has the police to unearth a shocking illegal fighting ring that has been operating in a quiet neighborhood without anybody ever noticing.
The incident occurred on the 18th of January in York County, South Carolina. The neighbors heard screams and the police responded minutes later.
When the police arrived, they discovered a 71-year-old woman lying on the ground, pinned by the strong and vicious pit bull that was attacking her.
The woman was airlifted to a hospital for her injuries, but thankfully, the police didn’t leave the matter as it is.
The woman was there to take care of the 14 dogs on the property, but the incident had led the police to investigate the property more. When the cops looked at the restrained dogs and inspected them closely, they suspected that they were looking at a dogfighting ring.
They also discovered further evidence of animal abuse; 8 of the dogs were without water, 6 female dogs were in violation of the country’s spay ordinance, 12 dogs were without proper shelter or proof of rabies shots.
They also discovered a pit bull training sled, two ‘break sticks’ that are used to separate the dogs during a fight. The most obvious sign was the injuries on the dogs that were consistent with dogfighting.
Animal control later arrived and examined all the dogs.
The police have since then arrested 38-year-old Richard Edward Faulkenberry and have charged him with 8 charges, including 8 counts of Ill-Treatment of Animals, 8 counts of Inadequate Water, 1 count of Dog Fighting, and a slew of York County code violations.
